Senior Clinical Psychologist and Chartered Psychologist
Emily is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Associate Fellow and Chartered Scientist with British Psychological Society (BPS). She is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Emily completed her doctoral training in clinical psychology at Leicester University in 2014 and over her career has acquired extensive experience in the NHS, private and charitable organisations, working with children and young people, families, adults, staff teams and students. Emily has worked in a range of therapeutic areas including neuropsychological rehabilitation, adult mental health, learning disability, child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS) and specialist paediatric psychology services. Emily is a supervisor for clinical psychology trainees, assistant psychologists and undergraduate psychology students.
Emily is currently a Senior Clinical Psychologist within the NHS, working with adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties. She works with a broad range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, bereavement, relationship difficulties, gender related distress, the psychological impact of physical illness and injury and specialises in trauma and PTSD.
Emily also works in close partnership with secondary schools across Northamptonshire providing therapeutic support for young people on a range of psychological and behavioural difficulties including anger and challenging behaviour, self-harm and eating difficulties. Emily also provides structured cognitive and neuropsychological assessment for adults and young people aged 16 and over and is also trained in the diagnostic assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) for both children and adults.
Clinically, Emily is trained to a high standard of therapeutic practice and is competent in the integration of a number of therapeutic approaches. Emily practices a person centred approach, drawing on a number of psychological approaches appropriate to individual client needs. These approaches include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Emily is also trained in the use of specialist trauma therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills training.
Academically, Emily is an Associate Lecturer in Psychology and also a Consultant Practitioner, providing training, reflective practice, supervision and support for staff teams on a range of psychosocial needs. Emily has completed specialist training in Adult Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol and is competent in the use of sophisticated neuropsychological assessment and formulation methods across a number of neurological presentations including head injury and neurodegenerative illness. This training is in partial fulfilment of her accredited training with the British Psychological Society towards registration as an Adult Clinical Neuropsychologist. Emily is currently studying specialist applications of CBT for psychosis with Kings College London.
